Barricade is a famous board game for the whole family, adults as well as children. Barricade, also known as Malefiz, is inspired from the famous board game of type "pawn race" which is a turn based game. It is a simple game that can be played by the whole family, from parents to children.

If it is simple, it is however captivating because it requires a good strategy : you need to make a smart balance between :
• Blocking the enemies
• Attacking the enemies
• Protecting your pawns
• Moves quickness
• Grouping your pawns for a higher power

Barricade can be played alone against the computer or with 2, 3, 4 players..., depending on the game board. It can be played on the same machine, on the local network (LAN) or through the internet. With more than 2 players, it is even more distracting because of the temporary alliances than can be established and stopped during the game : no matter the method, you need to prevent the others from arriving to the final square before you !

It’s very fun and addictive as you have at your disposal many strategies in order to crush your enemies. You must use your strategies to attack and block your opponents as well as protecting your pawns. It’s a fantastic game that will surely entertain the whole family, parents and children alike. Let’s find out the features of this little gem!

If trying new games is your thing, you must give Barricade a spin. The game is turn based and it supports up to 4 players. It’s extremely captivating because you must think and analyze your options very carefully for one of your pawns to reach the final square. This is the goal of the game and it doesn’t come easy because before achieving victory, you will have to attack and block your opponents as well as protect your precious pawns. A smart balance between these options and moving quickly as well as grouping your pawns for higher power is imperative.

The game features pleasing graphics and cool sound effects which makes your playing experience even more interesting and fun. There are three ways in which the game can be played: on the same computer, on the local network and on the internet. The game gets fun when more than 2 players are involved because temporary alliances can be formed and crushed. Anyway, the method you achieve victory isn’t important – just be sure that you arrive on that final square first! The game also helps new players who don’t know the rules. The Help menu is of great help! The moves, the pawns and the rules are all explained there. Then you’ll need to improvise and make your own personal tactic. The New Game button allows you to choose between a human or robot opponent. The names can also be set accordingly. The dice is automatically thrown and the game is on!

Barricade also gives you many options to customize your gaming experience. You can choose different board styles such as butterfly, big, big2, official, dual and many more. The windows appearance can be modified and the music can be disabled. Other options including various settings regarding the dice and robot speed, the state bar and move help can also be altered. Barricade runs on the following platforms; Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Yes, basically all platforms! There are two versions of the game. The free version has basic functionality but if you want the entire gaming experience at its best, you must register for the full game as you get network multiplayer, the save/load game option, team play (2 versus 2) and lots of boards, skins and music.
