Description of VisualTimer 1.1.0

A simple count down timer application
VisualTimer is a simple count-down timer application with a visual read-out. Remaining time is shown as red wedge that becomes smaller as time passes.

Use the "Timer/Set..." Menu to open the dialog to set the timer. Use the up-down arrows to adjust the start time in minutes (0 to 60) and seconds (0 to 59), or enter the start time using the keyboard. Press the 'Set' button to set the timer to the selected start time. Then use the "Timer/Start" and "Timer/Stop" menus to start and stop the timer. Once the count-down has ended, an alert window will open and system beeps will be played in 1 second intervals until the alert window is dismissed by pressing the 'OK' button.

At any time, use the "View/Toggle Fullscreen" menu to switch between windowed and fullscreen mode. While the timer is running, any active screensaver will be suspended.

Creating Movies:
The "File/Create Movie..." menu displays a dialog window with settings for creating VisualTimer movies. The dialog is populated with default settings to create a 60 minute movie with a frame every 1 seconds, with a size of 320x240. If "Show Compression Settings" is checked, a dialog for setting movie compression options will be displayed. If the check box is left unchecked, the movie will be saved in uncompressed format.

Apple QuickTime is required to be installed to create movies.

Movies of almost any size and frame rates as low as 0.1 (i.e. one frame every 10 seconds) can be created via this dialog. Using proper compression options (QuickTime) allows for compatibilty with many devices capable of playing movies such as iPods, AppleTVs, smart phones, etc, which is ideal for situation where a visual timer is needed but no computer is available.
