Description of InjuredPixels 2.1
Check for dead pixels on LCD monitors
InjuredPixels allows you to easily check for defective (hot, dead or stuck) pixels on LCD monitors. InjuredPixels can be used to test a new LCD monitor before purchasing, or an already purchased monitor during the warranty period (as you may get a replacement according to the manufacturer's dead pixel policy).
InjuredPixels fills the entire screen with a primary or custom color, allowing you to inspect the screen for pixels that do not match the selected color. The program is easy to use: click or use the arrow keys to cycle through colors or right-click to get the menu with the main commands.
InjuredPixels can be run directly without having to install it on your computer: just download and run.
The new version adds a new edition of the program. InjuredPixels also comes in the form of a HTML Application (HTA), a very small (15Kb) special kind of web page that can be run by Microsoft Internet Explorer as a normal Windows program.
Editor's review for InjuredPixels
Have you ever seen black, white or colored spots on your LCD panels? It’s more than likely you were looking at a dead or malfunctioning pixel. Wouldn’t you like to identify these during your TV or monitor’s warranty period rather than be stuck with a defective unit? That’s where InjuredPixels comes in.
This handy, free utility allows you to check any LCD panel for dead pixels or pixels that are emitting the wrong color. If you can connect a panel to your computer, you can check it for damage. That’s right; you could probably take your laptop to the store and make sure the panel you’re buying is 100% functional before you even leave the building with it. More likely, though, you’ll use it to check any panels you have in the home or office that are still within their warranty period, allowing you to order a free replacement from the manufacturer if any injured pixels are detected.
The program works by filling the screen with a color of your choice. If your monitor is functioning properly, every single pixel should look exactly the same. You can quickly cycle through the list of available colors by using the mouse or arrow keys. Right-clicking in the window will allow you to access the program’s main commands.
It’s that simple. In fact, InjuredPixels doesn’t even come with an installation program. Simply open the site using Internet Explorer and click the Download and Run button to proceed.
The program is compatible with Windows 7, Vista and XP. Therefore, whether you’re checking each LCD panel in your office or just making sure that brand new TV isn’t defective, just connect your computer, download , InjuredPixels and put your panel through its paces.
Your LCD panel will thank you once its functionality has been ensured.
