Terminal emulators seem to be a dying breed these days. Those that are available are either overly expensive or are no longer updated. TN3270 Plus changes all that with a feature set to rival the biggest names in terminal emulation at a fraction of the price.

TN3270 Plus does everything you would expect in a terminal emulator and then some. It offers support for both 3270 and 5250 protocols, plus VT100 and ANSI emulation. But that’s just for starters. It can emulate 3287 and 5250 printers and route print jobs from the host to a printer on your network. You can also use it as an SSH client to connect to Unix-based systems, and it even comes with a pack of utilities to make your internet connectivity tasks easier. These include an FTP program as well as a mail checker utility, among other handy applications.

When it comes to terminal emulation, you typically want an application that does its job to a T and otherwise stays out of the way, and that’s exactly what you get with TN3270 Plus. All its components are configurable, allowing you to completely customize your experience. Once you have the settings you want, you can lock them so they can’t be changed. Power users will be thrilled that you can connect up to 99 simultaneous sessions with TN3270 Plus.

There’s also a floating keypad toolbar that will let you quickly press any special 3270 or 5250 keys as easy as pushing a button. A detailed status bar tells you all you need to know about each terminal session. The program works with all versions of Windows back to 9x, so you can quickly and easily deploy it across just about any organization without worrying about different interfaces for the older systems in your group. If you’re an application developer, you can use DDE or WinHLLAPI to allow your applications to communicate with TN3270 Plus, like any good terminal emulator, it will also keep a log of each session for easy review later.
