Search and/or replace text and binary files

Search multiple files and directories for a text or binary phrase and replace it with another. Extensive regular expression (egrep) support w/ extras such as inserting filenames, sequential numbering, DOS environment vars, word wrap, boolean searching, Unicode support, & more. Search results can be directed to a file or viewed in color coded html. Replacements may be viewed in context before they are made. Scripts and command line switches for frequent &/or complex operations. Command line switch is availble to run the program silently with not GUI. Filters, complex paths & boolean expressions may be used to determine the files to be processed.

Multi-line search/replace is easily done. No limit on the number or size of files. Includes an 'html mode' to make character code substitutions for html special characters.

File dates can (optionally) be preserved and changed files can be written to another path. Built-in file operations. Undo function. Also Touch files and perform replaces on contents of the windows clipboard (including reg exp). International versions are available. Much more.

As many users of various word processors and other text or number editing applications have discovered over the years the ability to utilize quick find and replace functions through a few keystrokes can save hours of time adjusting small pieces of information that would be difficult or even impossible to locate otherwise. Nevertheless there is one major drawback in nearly all cases when using this: the ability to find and replace key information is limited to both simple text replacement and a global application of the rule (meaning if you want to find a replace key information in a small selection only this may not be possible and instead every instance of a piece of information will be modified, potentially costing even more time than a manual modification would require).

With Search and Replace, on the other hand, the issue of not having enough control over your own find a replace functions is a thing of the past. Able to locate and analyze key information for a variety of aspects including even font and color Search and Replace can look at information contained in anywhere from an entire document to specific lines within that document for instances of items and adjust them accordingly. This means that if you are looking at editing only select key lines where text occurs and simply change the color of that text rather than affect a whole document Search and Replace can single out these instances and make the changes necessary.
