Editor's review for FoxLingo

If you’ve ever found yourself needing to translate a web page from one less than common language to another (say, for example, Swahili to Tagalog), chances are that the most well-known translation services such as Google Translate won’t suffice. If you are a Firefox user and translate between languages fairly frequently, installing the FoxLingo add-on for your browser could just about be the best download you will ever have completed. The add-on’s sheer comprehensiveness makes the download worthwhile! Perhaps the feature that makes FoxLingo stand out from the rest is its ability to bring up search results in foreign languages based on search terms that you enter in your native language. For example, a search for ‘baby’ in French language pages would bring up a search results listing for the French translation of ‘baby’ – traditional search engines such as Google do not do this, and would bring up French search results containing the word ‘baby’, and not its French translation, bébé, instead. Few other translation add-ons are able to perform this function as effectively as FoxLingo, if at all, giving this add-on a distinct advantage over its competitors. Another advantage of using FoxLingo over translating through a service such as Google Translate is that FoxLingo can translate words directly after they are selected on any web page, whereas otherwise users would have had to copy the text to be translated into a translation tool and translate the text from there. This greatly cuts down on the time it takes to translate blocks of text, meaning that if you translate words frequently using tools such as Google Translate or Babelfish, you would find yourself saving quite a bit of time by using FoxLingo for all of your translation needs instead! While no computerized translation service is anywhere near perfect, and there is no substitute for a real live human being translating your words for you, taking into account cultural, contextual or idiomatic meanings inherent in the text, FoxLingo improves accessibility to the computerized translation services that are available. FoxLingo is a great way to overcome that barrier between languages that computerized translation tools have worked to overcome, and would make a great addition to any Firefox web browser.
