Description of GT4T 4.32
Integrates Google Translate into all text applications
Google Translate for Translators (GT4T) is a translator's productivity tool that seamlessly integrates Google Translate into all text applications. It can help you translate faster by replacing selected source text of your choice with translations from Google.
GT4T pro works in all applications. GT4T pro is an unobtrusive stand-alone Windows application. After running it in the system tray, you can then use the system hot keys it provides in Word, Trados, Wordfast, Notepad, webpages, etc. In fact, the hot keys work anywhere you can type text.
Select and hit the hot key. Whenever and where-ever you select some text and hit the hot key (CTRL+J by default), the text will be replaced by its translation from Google Translate.
Special hot keys for various CAT tools. If you are using TagEditor, Translator's Workbench, Trados 2009, Wordfast pro and SDLX, Hit CTRL+ALT+J, the current segment will be automatically translated and hit CTRL+ALT+K, the next segment will be automatically translated.
Many Language pairs: Google Translate translates between 52 languages and GT4T supports all languages pairs that GT works with! Check Google Translate website for a complete list of available languages.
Google Dictionary & Plain Text Pasting: Select a word anywhere and press down CTRL+SHIFT+D to check the word in Google multilingual dictionary instantly. Press CTRL+SHIFT+V to paste text without format information (font, size, color, etc). These functions are free: you will never get nag screens when using them.
Editor's review for GT4T
Google’s translator has been helping people write in foreign languages for years. Now, Dallas Cao brings the power of Google Translator to any text entry application, including Microsoft Word. Google Translator for Translators, or GT4T, is very simple at its core. It allows you to translate selected text at the press of a hot key. This hot key works in any application where you can enter text. The original text is quickly replaced with the translated version, dramatically speeding your translation of a wide variety of items. Since Google can translate between 55 languages, GT4T will boost productivity on just about any job.
The entire program is tiny, with an installer of less than 700 K. There are two versions of the program: one that works with any text application and one specifically designed for use in Microsoft Word. The Word version is simply a default template that is loaded upon Word startup. The interface is clean and straightforward, allowing you to quickly change the languages being translated.
Though Google Translator is not considered a “professional” translation tool, many uses and testimonials indicate that it does a more than adequate job with most expressions. Most translators on the market today are prohibitively expensive, and GT4T integrates into applications just as well, perhaps even better.
GT4T is known as nagware, but it’s not nearly as nagging as it sounds. This simply means that after a hundred uses of the program, every once in a while, you’ll see a screen that gently reminds you to pay for the program if you like it. However, the program will remain fully functional and can be used indefinitely without purchasing. GT4T requires Microsoft Windows, but otherwise, its requirements are practically non-existent.
For those who need to translate documents but don’t want to shell out hundreds of dollars for a professional translation package, GT4T should fit the bill quite nicely.
