Geneious combines all the leading DNA and protein sequence analysis tools into one revolutionary software solution! Its ease of use makes bioinformatics accessible to any biologist. It runs on all major operating systems and is very affordable.

Geneious Pro is an integrated, cross-platform bioinformatics software suite for manipulating, finding, sharing, and exploring biological data such as DNA sequences or proteins, phylogenies, 3D structure information, publications, etc. It features sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis, contig assembly, primer design and cloning, access to NCBI and UniProt, BLAST, protein structure viewing, automated PubMed searching, and more. It even includes an API for creating your own plugins.

Key features

• Geneious Align - For pairwise alignment this offers Needleman-Wunsch and Smith-Waterman. For multiple alignment this uses our own implementation of a progressive pairwise algorithm
• MUSCLE - One of the fastest alignment implementations available today. MUSCLE is a public domain program.
• ClustalW - ClustalW is a widely used program for performing sequence alignment.
• Translation Align - Translates nucleotide sequences, aligns the translations using any of the above programs then back translates them for you to produce a nucleotide alignment.
• Consensus Align - Aligns two alignments or adds a sequence to an alignment using their consensus sequences.
• Profile Align - Aligns two alignments or adds a sequence to an alignment using alignment profiles.
• Mauve Genome Align - A separate plugin available for download based on Mauve which can perform multiple alignment of bacterial genomes and includes a specialized viewer for the alignments.
• Contig Assembly - Automated contig assembly featuring automatic trimming, vector screening and assembly to a reference sequence. Then use the powerful alignment viewer to edit the assembled sequences. Geneious Pro cuts out most of the manual decisions you have to make about base disagreements in a contig by choosing the consensus sequence based on quality data. For more tricky situations chromatogram traces displayed alongside sequences and a quality-weighted sequence logo help you make the call. Geneious allows you to quickly jump through all of the disagreements in a contig and keeps a record of all edits you make to your contig so you always know what's changed.
• Cloning - With Geneious Pro you can do all of the necessary computer based analysis in preparation for lab work. Visual mapping of restriction enzyme cut sites and in silico digestion as well as ligation of fragments with consideration for sticky and blunt ends. You can even maintain a list of your favorite enzymes or the ones that are available in the fridge! Geneious Pro even supports Gateway cloning and has a one-step operation for quickly inserting a sequence in to a vector
• Primers - Design DNA primers and hybridization probes for PCR, sequencing and other primer based analysis. You can store all of your established primer sequences in Geneious and test them against new sequences - Geneious Pro can even choose the best primers from a set.
